A private concession initiative for the implementation of the investment project was submitted to the Government of the Kaliningrad Region on behalf of the Tenth Concession Company, a member of VIS Group. Attempts to implement such a large-scale project have been made before, and it has strategic importance for the region. This only became possible with the engagement of private investor funds.
The new bridge will provide access to the trans-European corridors in the direction of Berlin and Budapest and improve transport accessibility of Russian sea ports in the Baltic. The total span of road infrastructure, including the bridge over the Pregol river, approaches, overpasses and interchanges will equal to 7.7 km. The high-speed four-lane road will become part of the ring route in the area of the Primorsky recreation zone.
